At least they're bombing each other for now, I guess.

The loyal followers of Mo the Schmo are doing their rightful duty by killing the unbelievers...................... err.............. um...................

Perhaps it's not about religion, just lunacy.

I have to agree. I've just read 'and then all hell broke loose' by Richard Engel; it's a great read to understand the Middle eastern dynamic and he predicts that is eventually what will happen again, maybe not Afghanistan but for most of the countries. They actually work better under somebody a bit heavy handed who can keep the religious nutters at bay.

After the Arab Spring in Eqypt, a lot of hope etc. and then the Muslim Brotherhood started exerting control, thankfully the Egyptian military had enough about them to reign it in.

Given we (western forces) have left and handed it back not to a government of the people but the same nutters as before I can't help think ISIS now have the perfect nation to take over. Sure the taliban are harsh too but ISIS is a death cult and with no organised security services (a chap in sandles with an RPG is not the same as a detective), then there is a god chance they could take over. But unlike Iraq, syria etc, we in the west wont stop them this time.

I have to agree, taking down Saddam, wasn't the best thing for Iraq it transpired.

Still, there's nothing the west is going to do again.

We may yet see a rise of the caliphate again.

I remember listening to a Middle East expert on this matter.
His view was that they got rid of Gaddafy ,only to replace him with 100’s of Gaddafys .

Democracy doesn't work in uneducated locals.......Look at American inner cities

Village elders ran Afghanistan for quite a while, apart from a bit of goat rustling, it worked just fine
