Good Day At McGurks

Myself and a few other Aston drivers decided to decend on McGurks who were holding an open day.
Some lovely cars for sale, some lovely cars pulling in.
Capped off with fine weather and a free coffee and bacon/sausage roll.
Not all Aston but mostly, and some lovely none Aston's for sale also.
First time I've been to their facility, well worth a look.

Absolutely this. A number of years ago they offered me £8k for my DB7 Volante which was around £24k at that time. I got £10k more than they were offering without really trying.

To be fair they low balled me when in initial discussions on part ex'ing my Vantage for a DBS. However, that's just business and its a nice little drive from where we live so spent an hour or so wandering about. This may sound terrible but our/my favourite car(s) were the red 1960's/70's Maserati 3500? (which didn't stay long) and the F40......

I have to agree, the Maserati was rather special. I don't personally get the F40 thing but the XJ220 parked next to it was something special, I thinks it's the sheer size of it, the huge amount of car aft of the rear wheel arch!!The Lotus Corrina was very nice also.

We went back to take some photos of the Maserati and it had already gone, so a bit disappointing really. And I think we're opposites (in a good way), I get the F40, but not the XJ220. I know we're going off topic, but for me the F40 is just an old breed analogue with car with no luxuries, purely practical. Whereas, the XJ220 will always be a 'could have been car'. What's funny is, aft of the rear wheels, there's nothing there other than the exhaust. Assume the length/overhand is down to aerodynamics !?! Its nice that McGurks have the open mornings, with a chance to view not only Astons, but other cars. And a bonus when the weather was so nice. We ended up driving to the cotswolds and stopping off in Stow on the Wold. Passed another fellow Astoner who had been at McGurks as well.The Lotus Corrina was very nice also.

So which one of the dozens were you and what car were you driving? I came in with several others who parked outside and across from the McGurks workshop, we are known as the '400 club' mainly 4.3's that have been fettled a little. My car being the 3rd from the left in the first picture above. I spoke to many people that day but no idea who they are or whether they are on this forum or not.

We came in my 2006 4.3 Vantage (Oyster Silver - F6 AMV) which got parked next to the TVR Tuscan. Not sure why we were directed to park in the only non-aston area !?! I spoke to many people that day but no idea who they are or whether they are on this forum or not.

That is either the same xj220 or an identical one to the one they had in when I sold them my dbs ,that was 6 years ago.leerandle said:

He has owned that car from new virtually and when the engine went pop, he replaced with an LS also adding a 6 speed box. said he should have done it years ago as the car is much better on this engine /box than the AJP6 it originally came with.Its funny how you speak to people, but its odd asking, so what's your username on Pistonheads......
Obviously, the purest TVR guys give him a hard time so he now prefers to drive out with the Vantage guys.
