Hi.

My son is 10 and getting into gaming and needs to move on from his witch. He wants a PC that he can use for gaming but also other stuff inc school work, ( that bit piss a decot to persuade us to go along with it! ).

I know bugger all about this stuff so could do with some advice re what to buy. Ideally just need the PC as have a monitor and keyboard.

So, if anyone could advise best options ideally under £500 I'd be grateful.

If you could explain reasons why and where to source that would also be handy.

Cheers, Ed

Going to depend what sort of games he is looking to get into

Clearly Minecraft / Roblox / etc are much less intensive than say a flight sim

Sadly I think your timing couldn’t be much worse. Prices of PC components have never been higher at present.

You might be able to find a gaming PC for under £500 but it won’t be very good. Possibly look at second-hand for that budget.

Ok cheers. Are there any reputable traders of used stuff that check it's all as it should be/tested/prepped etc..?

Cheers

Assuming your monitor is 1080p, that might just get away with being acceptable as apparently can run fortnite at 50fps... I can't say I've ever used this site before though.
