52 reg Tuscan 3.6, running fine. Sounds truly fine as well for the first few minutes. Gradually thereafter, however, I can hear a whining sound from the car (engine ? gearbox ? not sure) if I coast in gear with my foot on the clutch or if I drive at a relatively low speed for the gear I'm in (hope that makes sense). When the revs get up (in any gear) the sound completely disappears. As I said, it drives fine with or without the noise, and the sound doesn't appear for the first few minutes when I drive the car from cold.
Any of you TVR pistonheads know what's causing the noise ?

OK.....
Certainly not from the back of the car, more front/middle. I suspect it might be the gearbox.
No noise when the engine runs for a few minutes from stone cold, but the whining noise then starts after the car has been running for maybe 5-10 minutes. If the engine is already warm on starting, the noise starts immediately.
Noise occurs depending on the gear I'm in and the spped I'm doing, e.g. it'll happen at around 20 mph in 2nd gear but will disappear at 30-40. If I'm in 3rd gear it'll appear at perhaps 30 mph and then disappear if I accelerate to 40 or 50 and hold that speed. In 4th, I get the sound at around 40 mph or less, but it disappears at 50-60 or more, etc. etc.
There is no discernable effect on performance, smoothness of engine etc.. Also, gear changes don't seem to be more difficult (although on long journeys when the car gets very hot first can get a bit stiff).
Not sure if that helps !
