Stelvio quad engine noise
Discussion
They look great, but I just found them a bit too snug.
Obviously, I could lose a bit of lard from my waist and they’d probably be ok….
The car overall looked good, but there’s just a few concerns over it that are niggling me.
The noisy tappets ( but as others above have said, possibly normal), I think it’s due a service at 3 years / 12k miles (?) and what really annoyed me was that it has 3 Pirelli tyres and one Dunlop fitted.
Small thing I know….

You should be able to buy Mopar extended warranty from a couple of places (LC Motors, D Salmon) if the car has correct service history.
That tyre thing would really annoy me, bad idea to mix compounds across an axle. Probably been unlucky and had a puncture and was planning to replace the Pirelli’s with Dunlop’s, but still. If it’s a dealer I would get them to change the tyre for you as condition of purchase.

The car is also Misano blue - is this not a particularly popular colour?
It’s also been for sale since around June - £55k
Dealer said he’d change the tyre, but I’d have to push for a new pair on the rear.
Also only saw one service stamp in the book in 2020 - assuming it’s 2 year service intervals it’s due one now.
Think I saw something in the dash that said ‘service expired’ or such.

The mis-matched tyres would put me right off, what sort of owner does that?
Leasing companies. Basically.Basically they will not authorise a tyre unless absolutely necessary. I recall on one of my Mrs co cars both fronts were on 2.5-3mm. They only authorised the change of the one punctured tyre so we had one new, one almost exhausted tyre. The car was a pig to drive afterwards
I would be walking away as well. Service intervals are every 9k miles or yearly on the Giulia Quad, can’t see why the Stelvio would be different, especially as it has a more complex 4wd drivetrain. Who’s to say what the next service might pick up and even if it was covered by the RAC Warranty, would you want the hassle
I’ve had it confirmed by the dealer that did the service last year - they said it’s every 9k or yearly.
I’d assume even if I could get an Alfa warranty, they wouldn’t put one on a car with a missed service.
However, there’s the possibility the original service book was lost and the 2nd service was in a new book.
When I spoke to the dealer they said there was no central database to show what servicing was carried out or when.
Is there anything on the Stelvio to show it, like the BMW idrive with the service history?

So I’ve now found another one - dealer is bringing it to my house for me to look at tomorrow.
Slightly higher mileage (17k) but still in warranty until next July and apparently full Alfa service, so should be ok to extend the warranty next year.
It’s also just had two new rear tyres fitted, but looks like they are Michelin Latitude (also on the fronts so at least they’re matching) - strange tyre for this car I thought - normally Pzero’s?
Anyway, hope I like Vesuvio grey in the metal…

Michelins over Pirellis for me, any day of the week. Hope you like the car.Slightly higher mileage (17k) but still in warranty until next July and apparently full Alfa service, so should be ok to extend the warranty next year.

Had a drive in it tonight.
Lovely thing in the grey, which surprised me more than I thought, and looks to be in fantastic condition and well looked after.
One thing I never checked though, is if the rear seats fold.
I understand they didn’t on earlier versions (or was that just the Giulia QV?) This is July 2019.
Anyway, deposit down…

Stelvio Quad rear seats fold 60/40 and always have done.
Congratulations from a Vesuvio Grey Stelvio quad owner. You clearly have good taste.
I saw my cars doppelgänger for the first time on Tuesday. Identical MY20 VG Quad driving in the opposite direction to me in Harpenden.

Was wondering how the golf clubs would’ve gone in otherwise

I was pretty much gobsmacked when the car pulled up - it’s not the colour I’d have gone for (ideally wanted Comp red, but I’ve had a 4C in that, and none in my budget for sale) and the pictures don’t do it justice - it’s quite a sparkly shade of grey.
Looks so purposeful with the chunky wheels, and the roof bars break up the expanse of roof nicely.
