A truly iconic car and it looks like a beautiful example. Owned 5 Imprezas myself so know the model well, the Type R is one of the high points.

Great to see an old Impreza from when Subaru hadn’t lost the plot and were something to be aimed for!

I bet it cost you a hell of a lot more to buy now than what you previously it sold it for!

I've been carrying a torch for these for some time. What are good cars selling for these days?

Agree with above sentiments, nice.

Had a Classic, a P1 and an STi back in the day. True legends all, until, as stated above, Subaru forgot who they were and lost their plot down the back of the sofa. Can't quite believe where they are now, that goes for Mitsubishi too.

Enjoy.

My mate let me drive his type R...I broke 4th gear.

Few weeks later we had ring piston failure. Great fun but made of chocolate

The early five-speeds can be fragile. Also worth remembering these are 25-year old cars that have been enthusiastically driven all their lives. Thankfully there is a healthy network of specialists offering offering affordable maintenance including gearbox rebuilds.

Not if maintained well and mapped and fuelled properly.

Any Type R is £25k plus now, I’ve seen a few at £45k recently
Fresh imports are £30k plus @ auction before you even consider getting them over here.
P1’s seem to be asking £40k-£60k atm
Imo I think it’s only a matter of time before there nearer £100k

That is lovely, the best thing this side of the 22B (or the P1).

What has been modified on it? (or more to the point, what hasn't been modified! laugh)

An STI Type R… Considerably better than a P1 for those in the know.
