New Vantage - Electrical Gremlins

2020 Vantage. Since new I have had occasional spurious warning messages when first getting into the car that seem to occur if I pull the door handle too quickly with comfort access (i.e. before the lock has fully disengaged). I had always put this down to the shoe-horning of Merch tech into the Aston system and they would go away as quickly as they came.

Last night though I had - 'parking brake failure' and 'lighting system failure' persist all the way home, the parking brake message cleared by applying and releasing the brake but the lighting warning persists (despite all lights working correctly, I've tried all combos). This morning 'Electrical Diff Unavailable' and the lighting message persisting, with no amount of restarts clearing it.

Irritating. I am speaking to the dealer this morning but wondered if anyone else has seen this or similar issues...?

Do you leave the car for long periods (a week or two) between using it without having it on a trickle charger? Normally repeated ramdom warnings like that are symptoms of a low battery.

Although, my car has been plagued by a few random electrical issues recently. The car has been good as gold without a single warning light from new, however last month (at almost 2 years old) the horn started going all by itself when driving, I also got random coolant warning lights (it isn't low) and a few others that would flash up almost too quickly for me to read them then disappear again. It also randomly goes into limp mode, however this has been traced to a problem with the exhaust valve operation. It's back in now getting the above repaired, I have to say I'm surprised after the car has been so good that it's suddenly had these issues, especially as the warnings such as coolant level aren't actually correct, much like your lighting issue.

I had “reduced engine power, take to dealer” or some such come up a couple of weeks ago. I’m over an hour from said dealer, so they advised getting Aston Assistance out. This I did (they arrived within an hour), the guy plugged it into his laptop and……..no fault, all fine. Since then I’ve had “e-diff not available” and “gear change fault”, both of which have been cured by simply pressing the “return” button on the steering wheel. At no point has the car run anything other than normally. It’s a bit irritating, but very similar to the Maserati I had previously that would throw up random warning lights when it felt like it, only to extinguish them when you switched it off and then back on again or took it to a dealer to have the fault diagnosed.

Thanks boys. I spoke to the dealer and they were very helpful- apparently this is symptomatic of low battery charge. I drive 5 miles back and forward a day in central London congestion and haven’t moved it for 10 days due fuel shortage…

Trickle charging should solve it.

modern cars are terribly sensitive to low battery voltage. many are the woes....

i suspect it's because just about every component on a car these days is monitored by a computer and computers are sensitive to voltage. i swear it won't be long before your car won't start if your glovebox is open.
