Locals have been calling for these for a long while now due to the idiots who speed across the forest, some end up hitting an animal and killing it or leaving it maimed and needing to be put down. The council are now backing this after 60k people signed a petition for average speed cameras, heard about it on the local news this morning and they stated a feasibility study would be carried out to see if it can happen, this study will cost around £30-40k.

Do they really need to spend £30-40k on a study to see if is feasible to install average speed cameras?

The yellow poles will look fantastic all over the national park!

Surely it wouldn't be feasible everywhere - it would be quite an infrastructure project!

I reckon they might paint them green... winkbiggrin

I drive one of the main routes across the forest (Cadnam to Fordingbridge) often, and to be fair the majority of drivers tend to stick somewhere around the 40 limit. There are always the idiots, though.

Personally, I'd support spending the money employing snipers to take down the scum who can't seem to make it through the place without leaving a carload of McDonalds wrappers behind furious

Isn’t that the Roger Penny Way? That stretch is notorious for speeding. They put traps on that regularly & have an absolute field day when they do.

Whilst they're there, maybe the cameras can also catch the throbbers who stop in the middle of the road with a stack of traffic behind them to take pictures of a pony.

They have made the “Evo Triangle” an average speed trap now, fortunately at 60mph.

It isn’t just all the yellow poles to spoil the view, there are all the camera warning signs and limit signs too

...or feed the poor things from cars, thus tempting them to the roads in the first place.

NFDC have lost their way on a few decisions recently. They are definitely underperforming as an LA.
