May be a coincidence, but last night on the Horror channel there was an episode of Star Trek Series 1 in which the Enterprise somehow finds itself in 1969, and takes on board a US fast jet pilot who had been sent up to investigate a UFO sighting. Said pilot has failed astronaut training and is very happy to get a ride around the sun.
Of all the wealthy people getting rides into space, I think noone could begrudge Shatner.

I think after initially getting out of the capsule he was almost lost for words, probably the first time ever.
Sci-Fi meets reality.
Then once he'd composed himself, hamming it up as usual.Sci-Fi meets reality.
Good on him though.
Surely at some point he must have said "Mr Sulu, take us out" or "Space: The Final Frontier"?
60 miles FFS. Hardly the final frontier!
Draw a circle in a piece of A4 as big as you can fit in.
It will be 8 inches in diameter , so the scale is 1 in to 1000 miles .
Now draw a line from the surface representing 60 miles.
Can you see it? A dot of pen would be about right.
In the same scale , the moon is 20 ft away and the sun 330 yards.
