I installed an old copy of Adobe Premiere 5 the other day to edit a small bit of footage, and its changed something.

All files still open with WMP, but when I click an *.avi link from the internet, it opens it with Activemovie.

1) How do I change it back to WMP?
2) How do I remove Activemovie?

Open windows explorer
Click Tools --> Folder Options
Click Files Types
Scroll down to find .AVI
Click on .AVI
Click on Change

Choose the app you wish to use to open the file..

Yes, they play in WMP fine on the computer, but if I click an *.avi link from the internet, instead of buffering in WMP, it opens this silly activemovie thing.

Sounds like a problem I had when I once installed quicktime. It was to do with Mime Type settings in the browser, they are seperate from the standard windows file associations and are basically settings in the browser which dictate what programme to open files with regardless of what windows itself would use.

Depends on what browser you are using as to how you fix it, I use firefox and deleted a file called mimeTypes.rdf which hangs around in the Profile folder, Firefox was then reset to use default Mime settings:

C:Documents and SettingsUSERApplication DataMozillaProfiles...

Worked for me but might be a different thing on yours.
