I want to use a phone as a sat nav on my motorbike. Given the recent recommendations about not using an iPhone due to vibration I thought I’d just buy a cheap phone (either android or Apple).

I’d like just to run Waze (for the camera warning if nothing else) but obviously you need internet. I’ve got loads of data in my piggy bank so using the same account is the best way.

What’s the simplest way of having the bike phone connected whilst it’s on the bike and my normal iPhone working as normal when the bike phone isn’t? I wouldn’t need both at the same time.

Is this even possible or would I just be cheaper getting an anti vibration mount and chancing using my iPhone?

Maybe use your normal phone as a hotspot to donate data to whatever cheapo you have mounted for satnav?

Can you get duplicate sims?
Hotspotting can eat through battery, I know my phone warns me to plug it in when doing so.

i seem to remember there was a network doing a sim with a 1 off payment that gave you a small amount of data monthly on going indefinitely, can't find anything about it now.

Could you get a power bank to connect to the hotspot phone? Then it will double/triple the battery power available.

its even better than i thought, it is just 200meg of data, for free, with a free sim.
Seems like there aught to be a catch

Why not get a proper sat nav (TomTom type thing)?

I use my old S7 Edge as the bike Satnav tethered to my 'usual' phone. Battery life has never been an issue even after a whole days riding, S7 is plugged in charging with the other in my pocket

Just get a decent mount and vibration mount accessory.
