I’ve been keeping a constant check on our cars but I think we are now way past the peak with thousands dropped from each of our cars from last week to this with no change (50 ish more miles and a fresh 12 months MOT).

Anyone else noticed this too?
Inflation is over for cars and deflation is now here.

yikes

They offered me £150 for my Chimaera. I should have taken it before the price fell! hehe

Yes I've noticed this too. Car mileage has only increased by around 100 mile since last valuation (1 week ago) but price has dropped almost £1.5k

Have they not got tech that picks up on you requesting valuations? They offer more and more to pull you in, then lower it to get you panicking so that you get the deal done more quickly?

Noticed this at the weekend. My Focus ST dropped from just over 18k to 17.8k. Sold it to them on Monday for 17.4k post inspection. Not bad considering I bought it for 19.2k 2.5 years ago.
Putting a like for like vehicle in their online price quotation system it now shows 17.6k.

Probably becoming a bit more selective re the cars they offer better money for.

They would never even give me a price for my TVR a few years ago, laying bare their claim to buy any car.

This would make a LOT of sense; their data scientists would be punting these processes at the business all the time

Did you tick "yes" to either or both of these:

16: Have you farted in the car?

19: At any time have you picked your nose and wiped your finger on the seat?

They're becoming quite tough on it since we left the EU.

Is the correct answer. Who even checks what their car is worth every week though? Wouldn't a FD know what's going on in the financial sector anyway?

Sounds like wishful thinking, my car has increased in value since last week by another 200

Eh.
Did you have peanut butter and jam sandwiches for lunch?

I tend to do so as the email comes through stating the valuation is running out. Force of habit.

I think they are also getting smart. They have spent the last few months driving values up.. then once people are convinced they can get a great offer for their car... they drop prices.

The price they are punting them on for remains just as high as ever. This is them buying smarter.

Motorway and especially Cazoo are way higher at the minute for many cars, just had a valuation for a 2016 Mini that was £700 over best private and £1,500 over WEBAC.

Shop around and check who is best before you sell, supply and demand at their own retailer has a big impact, plus the WEBAC algorithm is more complex than that of many of the competitors.

Good, I preferred it when cars depreciated horrifically, it's not hard to avoid being the one taking the bath.
