Hey Guys n Gals

Recently taken plunge with '98 Chimaera 450...WOW!

Just after some advice as to garages in Mansfield/ Nottingham area and surrounding? Prepared to travel (who isn't in a Tiv?!) and aware of RT Racing in Sheffield...

Also spotted bit of coolant leaking from mid engine area about 24-36 hours after parking in garage...only few tablespoons. Any advice, please?

RT Racing is probably closest, but can be a pain to get to (right in Sheffield city centre, so traffic & parking a problem).

Dunno if Jules (formerly Joospeed and a regular poster on this forum) still does general maintenance are you there, Jules?!

In the opposite direction down the M1 a bit, there is Mervyn at Barwell Autotune, also highly regarded.

I've got the dilemma as you Drew - seems to be a bit of a gap in the triangle between RT, TMS and Autotune. I've now dropped in on both RT and Autotune when I've been out & about. RT are a bigger operation and my Chim is booked in there for the full chassis paint & waxoyl treatment before the winter; Merv at Autotune knows his stuff, had a well set-up workshop and was very friendly, so that is definately another option for general servicing / problem solving.

Joolz has been pretty clear that doing standard servicing wasn't viable - he is now concentrating on race prep

So no real help, but a problem shared...

Thanks for the advice, service not due until November but need to get a wishbone changed and sort this leak. Will probs give RT Racing a try first.

Is the evidence drips under the car, or can you actually see where it's coming from?

By the way, you haven't tried the chip run to Matlock yet!

Now then 2 smokin barrels.

Can't exactly see where it is coming from, took it out on Friday night and then it dripped slowly until Earlier sunday morning (not that i was watching) Otherwise it runs fantastically and the temperature runs normal.

Enlighten me on the Matlock run if you will

Mid engine drips sounds unusual. Are you sure it's coolant? (Radiators, however, go with boring monotony, they are almost consumable items!)

There's been some PHer meetings fairly regularly on Tuesday nights in Matlock. Next one scheduled for 2 August at the White Lion.

Take a close look at the front of the engine at the joint between the timing chain cover and the block. The coolant passages pass through the cover and a dodgy gasket produces a slight leak from the front of engine area. This is apparently a known weak point - I know - it happened to me!
