Can anyone tell me if it is possible to change your own car locks (or is it hugely difficult)
My car was nicked recently, but I drove the area and found it hidden behind a block of flats so with the spare key, I pinched it back. However, stupidly there was something in my car with my address on and the tealeafs still have my original car keys. I think I will have problems with the insurance company and the main dealer will charge a fortune.
Can it be done? and can anyone point me in the direction of where I can actually buy the locks
Thanks

I did one on an MX3 a while ago. It was very easy. The hardest part was getting the door panel off and then relocating the linkage onto the new lock barrel. It was quite expensive (over £30) for the one barrel but they did have to match it to the original key.
I would imagine somewhere like eurocarparts (or similar) would sell you a new set of matched barrels / keys.

You could try a locksmith and see what they can offer.
Also car security companies offer lock upgrades. These may appear expensive but if you are going to replace all the locks anyway it may not be as painfull.
In my youth I stripped lock barrels and moved the pawls into different positions in the barrel. I then filed a new key to suit. Only an option if you have plenty of time.

A1 Motor Stores (www.a1motorstores.co.uk) sell special security locks with round keys, though I don't know whether they'll be suitable for your car.
Has to be worth a look though as they're almost certainly cheaper than standard repalcements from a main dealer.
Fitted a set on my old 2.8 Capri and they even act as deadlocks.
