Lance captures #7!

I know this is unreleated to anything automotive, but it is an incredible feat in its own right. Lance Armstrong has captured his 7th consecutive victory of the Tour de France on the streets of Paris. This is a phenomenal achievement and a record that will stand for decades. Congratulations Lance!!!
after everything he went through to win the tour 7 times is just totally mind blowing!!!

Yea but F1 has been getting more boring each year anyway, despite schumachers antics.

Agreed. And nobody minds if Man United etc win every match. But then, you get more watchable action/entertainment in a footy match than a processional GP.
However, the first lap of today's GP was a good scrap!

I would guess this is due to the fact very few people actually watch the Tour. I mean, F1 runs for 2 hours every second Sunday or so throughout the year, whereas the Tour is run over three weeks, all day, every day (nearly), in the middle of summer. Hardly prime time viewing.
(Incidentally, the French loathe the fact that an American keeps winning it, and claim it's boring as often as the motoring press do about Schumi. Fortunately, no one listens to the French.)
I don't think it has anything to do with interest. They both dominated in their chosen sport. Both are obviously great at what they do, but Schumi (and I am by no means a big fan of his), does seem to get a lot of abuse. he can only beat who is in front of him, with the tools at his disposal.
Strangely, Lance will probably be hailed as a legend, where as Schumi will always be known as the man that won everything, and made it a tad boring...

I'm not a fan of cycling at all, but comparing Schumi to Armstrong seems rather strange IMO.
AFAIK Armstrong has physical endurance riding a bike for 3 weeks solid, everyday and whilst as he doesn't win every day (something about team tactic I believe) he's there. He's also no spring chicken and came back from cancer didn't he? Schumi is very good driver, one of the best in fact and a very good winner but he certainly isn't a good sportsman nor a team player.
Of course Schumi is getting on in the world of F1, and he is at the peak of physical performance but for most seeing someone sitting driving isn't too far removed from what they do everyday. Look at this thread, there has already been 2 people saying "ouch, rode for <20miles and it hurts" whereas Schumi "only" drives for 2 hours? (I'm the first to say I couldn't do it & have upmost respect for their capabilites but then I'm a fan).

He's raised $ 51million in total with his "Livestrong" promotion.
