I’ve cleverly volunteered to do a load of pizzas next weekend, probably too many to do fresh dough. Anyone found a good source of ready made maybe sourdough bases? Oven is a standard size Ooni.

I want to say Asda does bases

But to be honest, I’d make my own. You can make them in advance, roll them out and freeze them between greaseproof paper and take them with you as a giant stack ready to use.

Whenever we make pizzas, we freeze the leftover bases this way and they work great.

Ask your local pizza shop - I’ve been cheating and buying their dough, as it’s better than I would make and at a quid a 12” ball it’s pretty cheap!

Great Balls of Flour do mail-order dough, and it’s pretty good. It’s not cheap, mind.

Booker cash and carry do ones that have very good reviews. Just checked and you get 60 for £14.19

Although I'm sure they do 36 packs of another type but that was instore not a quick check on my account online

The standard pizza pucks from booker are okay, i bought a box as a backup. I've used two and not bothered with them since.

They also do sourdough pucks which were mentioned on the pizza oven thread. Yet to see them in store but was going to give them a go.

There are some in Lidl that are surprisingly nice.

Come in a 2 pack, nice and thin.

OP. Wherever you are you will have any number of catering suppliers in your area who are fighting for business. Most offer click and collect to the public, just pay by card when you order and pick up whatever you want(/they have in stock!!)

These guys are local to me and on page 118 there's a multitude of options:

https://www.rdjohns.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/...

Problem is they are designed to cook from frozen in standard convection ovens or pizza decks. Not sure how they would work out in a high temp pizza oven.

These look interesting and there's actually a section telling you how to cook them in different ovens.

I buy my fresh(frozen) doughballs from Massarellas. Both the classic and the sourdough are lovely and far cheaper than Great Balls of Flour. Take them out of the freezer to proof at room temperature about 9-10 hours before theyre required, covered to prevent drying out. Very easy to work with.

We used these for my 40th and made 50 pizzas over a weekend. One person prepping and one cooking. Buy a load of flat pack pizza boxes from your local cash & carry or Amazon to save washing up.
