bonnet alignment adjustment

My bonnet needs to go bckwards by about 10mm. The rest of the alignment is good just need to move it back...which I am hoping means just adjusting the bolts that are on the bonnet rather than the ones that attach to the chassis.

Is this a one person job or do I need a helper? Any handy tips appreciated. Need to get it done before S Club;) thanks

That's right, the adjusters for this are the ones on the bonnet, which are horizontal when the bonnet is closed.

Remember to do both side together otherwise you'll skew the bonnet. Remember to move the bonet pins forward by the same amount so they still line up with the catches. Do a trial fit with masking tape over the latches to see where the bonnet pins are going before you actually close the bonnet, if the pins are too far out of alignment it can be a pain getting it open again.

Can I just adjust each bolt with the bonnet resting down... ie unlatched and does the front of the car need to be raised? Is it a one person job?

I have looked in the bible recently and it mentions to get a couple of friends to help by holding the bonnet while adjustments are made, I am going to do mine this weekend as my bonnet is out of line, good luck.

Just open the bonnet and prop it open as normal, there's no special trick to it and you can it all on your own.

I seem to remember that when I adjusted my bonnet, it was not that straightforward. Although the fore/aft adjustment is as you specify, the bolts are not at the same angle as the adjustment. This means that when you adjust forwards/backwards, there will also be some height adjustment required.

This is still no major drama and is a good reason to get the fit as good a you can.

I did mine on my own after replacing hinges. The only advice I can give is to remove the bonnet pins and work progressively in small amounts on each side,first on fore/aft then on height. It will probably take a few attempts to get a fit you are happy with.

Once you get the fit you are happy with, then it is a fairly straightforward job refitting the pins to the correct adjustment. I would recommend using masking tape as Pete suggests to centalize them.
