As above I'd like preferably a second hand managed switch mainly to learn via the cli if possible to setup vlans, this is just for home use connecting to my Sky fibre broadband router replaced with a (tplink archer v900)

I would like to separate my smart home stuff from normal internet traffic and poe for external camera and general dicking about. max £150 not interested in cloud based cisco meraki stuff though.

You can pick up the old 8 port 3560s from £60 up, they'll do PoE and have the full IOS CLI, I used one back in the day for Cisco studies. If you find one with the ipservices software, or can obtain the image via work or similar, then can do layer 3 routing too. Part no WS-C3560-8PC.

You can also use the GNS3 tool and run a virtual network (may also need to use some not entirely licensed software that you've "found" on the internet, but it's much more capable than using a single hardware box)

They're the older blue ones, think there are 8 port 3560CX but not sure if they'll be in the price bracket.

GNS3 never used to do switches but think it does now so that'd be a good option too, although I think actually using the kit in anger is probably better for learning, especially when it doesn't quite work as intended!

You should be able to pick up a Cisco 3750G well within your budget. Make sure you get the G version, as there are Fast Ethernet (100Mbps) versions around.

For CCNA you might be better with routers as they have more L3 features than the switches on the standard licences, and are available for very little.

3560's are absolutely ancient now, and they're pretty noisy too for home use.
