Having upgraded another desktop recently I am left with yet another old but perfectly workable quad core windows 7 machine I no longer need. I wiped the disc and reinstalled the OS thinking there may be some use for it but I am probably wasting my time right?? Another for the landfill presumably or is there a better option, any charities out there looking for old tech / any recycling options available ?

Where are you? There are many charities that take them. We use Jamie's Computers; a charity that works with homeless people. They are based in Southampton. There are likely to be other charities near to where you are.

Don't bin it!
There's a market for old computers that are still in working order. Some people eagerly seek out Windows 7 because they have old software which won't run on Windows 10 (11).

As said, there are a number of people who will happily put an older PC to use. Some will value it for the Win7 operating system, some will load a lighterweight OS onto it.

If you are anywhere near to Cheltenham then I'll happily collect and give you some beers / beer money for it, but there will be more worthy recipients as well! smile

Machine would probably run something like Cloudready very nicely and do somebody for a few years.

My desktop is a dual core. It does everything I need, at the speed I need. Browsing, writing, spreadsheets, streaming. No games though.

A quad core would be an upgrade for me!

Your machine will work fine for lots of folks - don't bin it.

If you are not concerned about getting money for it offer it up on freegle or freecycle, someone will come and take it off your hands.
