Anyone a contracts engineer for a m&e? Need an insight.

Hi,
I'm looking to change jobs and have been offered a role as a Contracts Engineer for an M&E. I currently work for a manufacturer running the technical dept.

The chap I interviewed with has advised me to do my homework before I decide. He says it's not for everyone and to speak to people doing it.... I know no one. I understand its keeping works on track from order to commission and dealing with 3rd parties who won't always like what's going on/in.

Any insight, positives, negatives etc would be very much appreciated.

I've worked as Contract Manager for a few European Contractors and last 25 years as claims manager for a couple of national oil companies. I didn't come up the contract engineer route. But I'll try to answer any questions if you want to email me.
