My son has dropped his Samsung Galaxy a50. The screen is now black with green & white lines across the top third. Any ideas about if it sounds terminal, or worth taking somewhere for repair, if possible? Cheers

Sounds like it needs a new screen, find your local phone repair place, probably about £100

Samsung themselves ssnt someone out in a van and repaired my daughters A51 last year; new screen, new battery as standard, and a warranty for £130.

The last time we had 'some guy' repair my wife's phone we ended up with a non-standard screen that didnt work and started peeling off, for only marginally less than it turned out the manufacturer would have charged...

I think that any repair on a a50 may be classed as uneconomical.

Son probably knew that before it got dropped.

Can always lend him the old Nokia 3210 so he can be called and text until santa comes in December with a new phone. He probably wouldn't drop that one wink

Given an a50 can be had used for just over £100 on eBay, it could be argued that it isn't economical to repair. Depends what the phone is used for really. You could buy a used one for the same price and it ends up having countless issues (I've done this before).

Or, maybe spend £150-£180 and upgrade it to an A51 which is a bit better.
