Guys,

My PAS Steering rack needs refurbishment. Since I am living in France and since Brexit happened, shipping my expensive part (and difficult to replace if lost) in a small workshop in the UK doesn't look like a preferred option for me.
Does anybody here know about a famous TVR place that does a great job at refurbishing our precious equipment?
And if you have prices and recent experience to come with the recommendation I would appreciate.
Thanks for your help.
Philippe

This is one of the most respected companies around a lot of people use but obviously you would need to research insured postage.

This is my Chimaera rack it has not long been refurbished by Kiley Clinton.
They strip it check it put new seals and put a new 60mm nut with a bush support in it.
I had them replace the hard lines with closer fitting Hydraulic lines to make it easier to fit as I wanted the track control arms fitted as they tighten up the swivel joints and fit the bellows on, you do not need to take out the swirl pot cross member with the close fitting lines.
You can get it out by taking off one track control arm mounted to the chassis you will have to take off the Y piece and the Rad hoses in any case.

That looks a pukka presentation of the finished job; especially like the low profile pipe work. Would KC have the spec to hand to offer that as an option on rebuild do you think, or was it done bespoke on the hoof?

I’ve been thinking about converting my PAS car to manual as I’ve been so peed off chasing dribbles for as long as I’ve owned it but a rack rebuild that looks like that could gird my loins to persist…

The low profile pipework is an extra to the rebuild but is a stock item. Just ask them to fit them.

KC are no strangers to TVR racks. I really wouldn't send my rack anywhere else. They can do anything. Proper engineers, not fitters.

It is possible to do it yourself if you have the time, but for most people there is only one way to test it which is putting it back in the car, unless you happen to have an electric hydraulic pump.
