Eco friendly/Carbon neutral latest fad
Discussion
Does anyone else get increasingly annoyed at the sudden fad of this with adverts etc . companies suddenly pretend they actually care only because it appears a smart business move , if they really cared they would have made sufficient changes already.
Unfortunately this the sort of stupid world which we live in where often big egos and person pursuits of big amount of wealth overalls greater issues .no one in power actually cares very much at all but very good pretending to.
I’d like some general opinions on this
Thanks

Totally agree with you. It's not just enviroment it's Lesbians in tv adverts or people of colour in adverts/tv.
It's like we have to get this right so we appear totally woke! I suppose even Starmer is trying to be more appealing to the masses but I ask myself 'Does he really believe what he is saying about his cervix?

Also just to add a few companies have been fined heavily for not dealing with there waste properly I.e waste sewage .100million in one example but that money doesn’t go back into sorting the problem itself but instead goes to central government with no further spending info .i don’t see the point in such fines .all a money making scandal

They get it from the government! same thing although not as bad as it’s their money not tax payers and their only bankrupting themselves not the country, Unfortunately this the sort of stupid world which we live in where often big egos and person pursuits of big amount of wealth overalls greater issues .no one in power actually cares very much at all but very good pretending to.

China loves the economic vacuum and the investment opportunities !!! Big win for less in lightened like the former ,Russia , India and Brazil etc , Green blob = communists new Trojan horse .
Free washing, blackwashing, whitewashing etc
They've been around for ages (ok the middle one is more recent)
As with my comments about resilience (in other threads) carbon reduction costs money.
Who pays?
The consumer via higher prices? No: any product with eslasitc demand will see sales plummet Vs less green competitors
The shareholders take a haircut? Excuse me, since when was business about losing money. Businesses exist for one reason only
The "government": ie everyone, via tax.
So it stands to reason it's far cheaper and easier to pretend to be doing something, than actually doing something. (In the short to medium term).
If people don't like greenwahsing I guess they can vote with their pocket a d seek out the proper green items
Organic milk X2 price
Fair trade coffee etc
Green electricity (not so sure about gas)
Etc.

It would be nice if they did, and some companies do. Many don’t, but at least they are doing the right thing, even if it is for the wrong reason.
You like when companies engage in greenwashing? Interesting. If only there was an ad extolling the new sewage works for London, keeping raw effluent out of the Thames, something genuinely needed and worthwhile.
The most amusing corporate ads / infotainment ads are those saying each of us can make a difference. Get peope on the small things and you've got them on the big ones already.
The UK is responsible for approx 1% of global emissions, possibly less. There are 30 million UK households and if we take each as home to 2 adults then we can each make one-sixtieth of a millionth of 1 percent difference, but only if we stop all activities with related emissions. No mechanised transport, no fossil fuel-based electricity, and so on. A veggieburger from Vegans Я U Ltd may be tasty and good luck to them.
If all of us individually did manage to stop all activities with emissions attached, China alone would make it pointless almost immediately due to the significant number of new coal-fired power stations already operational, with more being commissioned. It's important to be able to tell one form of sewage from another when so many genuine environmental concerns have to wait their turn due to the current fashion fad.

I think its simply a tick box exercise to avoid any potential backlash from the Twitter 'virtual' vigilantly mob. It's the same with LBQTLT++ thing...stick up a flag to show your support and the nutters will leave you alone.
We live in a virtuous world now.
I think it might have been that 10 years ago. There's a weird element of fantasy to it now.We live in a virtuous world now.
My daughter attends a small rural primary school which is pretty much 100% white (I think there's one kid whose Mum is Turkish) and as far as I know always has been yet the mural on the wall depicts a school which is at least 50% black.
I can understand the argument that these things should broadly represent the people they serve (though I think the zealous focus on skin colour is an odd way to tackle racism) but this isn't representative of the school or the area. They have actually invented these kids from nowhere and decided they are better than the kids they actually have.
Imagine going to a school in rural Kenya and finding it full of native black Kenyan children but a mural which depicted half the school as being blue eyed white kids. I can't imagine many would see that as welcoming and inclusive. It would be bizarre and somewhat uneasy. Do they think this makes the school look better? Has the media imposed some western centric idea of how people should look?

To answer your question: yes. Well, more mildly amused than annoyed. One example is that Amazon advert including the fat kid whining that "I'm only six, you figure it out". Yeah, that one. Sponsored by Amazon, who must have done more to facilitate the mass consumption of tat from China than any other company. Your silly advert is a load of old nonk, Amazon.I’d like some general opinions on this
Thanks

That said, the child actors do a great job of imitating today's whiny naive and increasingly indoctrinated kids, whether or not they need method acting to do so.
