Opening credits, young lad says: "When I get into the shed with a tool in my hands..."
Seems like the whole programme is edited innuendo as another competitor goes on about reinforcing his marital bed...

After this evening, amateur woodworkers all over the country are feeling a lot more confidant in their own ability. biggrin

I don't know how the guy who built the 'boat' survived. It was shockingly bad.

I'm a high end cabinet maker, I didn't dare watch it.
Heard it was pretty bad, Please don't think this is real cabinet making.

I'm watching it on Sky + 1right now, some of the designs look a bit ambitious and WTF is Misti?

Wasn't there something like this on a couple of years back, hosted by Lee Mack?

Then by episode 2 it turns out one of the contestants had Nazi tattoos and they pulled the plug on the whole thing

Yep, found it:

Watched episode 1, was surprised in the differences in ability

I'm only a diy chippy, knock up some shelving kind of thing, but some of the work was shockingly bad, especially the boat ends packed out with random lumps of ply

Absolutley - But first, lets have a talk about shop safety... Loved those shows, I used to pick up the This Old House magazine when in the US.

The contestants havn't been picked for ability - their selection has just been a box ticking exercise.
Would be much better with a shed of people who are talented - a missed opportunity.

Saw some of this last night. Quality of the work was awful!

The dovetail joint task- pathetic, shocking gaps and inaccurate marking out, and it was on two big chunky bits of wood. My late grandad was a carpenter and joiner- nothing fancy mainly rebuilding houses in London after WW2- but we still have some of the small things he made like lamps and mirrors, book racks etc. some of which have dovetail joints on- all cut by hand- which fit together perfectly with no gaps or misalignment. surely a basic skill for anyone calling themselves a woodworker. Embarassing tbh.

hehe I'd be a pretty good amateur wood butcher too with that workshop! Even the tools have tools.

My late Dad was a traditional cabinet maker and he would have been mortified at the level of 'skill' displayed so far in this program.

If this is the best that Britain has to offer then we are doomed.

It was a shame they pulled it, it was all filmed, the actual winner never got the recognition they deserved.

I watched the first episode earlier; what a strange mixed-ability bunch. Baffled why boat man didn't walk, his effort was one huge bodge job.

What a load of ste this is all round, and that's before we get to the comedy judging.

Probably the worst ever show in this sort of format.
