Saw the body cam footage yesterday.

It reminded me of my mum when she was dealing with my father's dementia.

The way she talked suggested she'd suffered a lot of mental abuse.

It would certainly seem so.

It's a bit of a weird case in that she hasn't made any attempt at saying she was in imminent danger, self defence, or even that she'd had a breakdown and needed mental health treatment, got herself sectioned or any of that.

Men aren't safe, the police need to do something to make men feel safer.

On a more serious note, if she's a victim of serious domestic violence then she hasn't done herself any favours by saying what's she said. She could have gone down the self defence route saying she had suffered domestic violence for years and when he smashed his way through the glass doors armed with a poker, he coming to kill her. That could have reduced it to manslaughter and if the judge felt the public weren't at risk from her, she could get a much letter sentence

The ES trial coverage makes it sound more like she was the abuser.

one wonders what would have happened if the victim hadn't been able to call the emergency services , she clearly stabs him a further two times whilst hes on the phone to the responder ?

she certainly wouldn't have contacted them , so it would have been a dead body on the floor with her having more time to think up a better explanation

Sounds like she had some sort of mental breakdown, her voice is calm but her focus is on her coat and slippers no emotion etc. My guess is she will get murder as evidence is damming but what 12 years 15 maybe

My missus’ friend stabbed and killed her husband.
It was genuinely self defence and she was free after the trial. The way the knife entered him was evidence of how he came at her… i think she did society a favour and saved herself.

Remember there are no excuse to hit a woman but plenty to kill a man - probably said by a feminist

Yeah that well known defence to murder.
It's a very inelegant comment by lotobear, but let's wait to see sentencing, which is where there's far more discretion

Inelegant perhaps but there's an underlying serious point - this is what appears to be an exceptionally cold and callous killing however I'd wager that when she is sentenced many will perceive that she got off lightly due to certain 'mitigating circumstances'. As you say however time will tell.

He was laying in bed when she attacked him, her story was that she walked in with the knife intending to take her own life in front of him (after an argument about bubble and squeak side dish) but he said something like "just get on with it" and she stabbed him. He went downstairs to clean up the wound and berated her about not being able to do even that properly and she finished the job!

Another interesting thing is that he was her 4th husband, and she his 3rd wife, and their marriage was the result of an affair. Her previous husband took his own life after discovering the affair.

Which feminist said that then?

She certainly doesn't come across as entirely angelic in this case.

He already said he doesn’t know.

I bet you are great fun at social gatherings.

When I read the title, I jumped to the same initial conclusion about abuse.

But, apparently not, which poses a significant problem for her lawyer, who’s primary role is to create the best defence proposal possible.
