Is now the time to buy new?
Discussion
I know there's long delays on cars, etc but I am thinking of getting something new and I wonder if now is the right time?
With second hand cars so high and my car now is worth more than what I paid for it, is it worth putting a deposit down? I'm thinking the new car might not depreciate as much especially if I look at a plug in hybrid with them being so trendy at the minute.
Just thought I'd see what others thought?
As a example I'm thinking of either a 530e or a 540i
I know completely different cars but on the configurator there's 2k in either.

It all depends on what your looking for & does it have to be a particular brand?
Unfortunately definitely has to be a bmw 5 series. None of the others really do anything for me. Had a bmw before and honestly it's the best car I've ever had. In a volvo at the minute and hate it. Looks stunning but it's a pile of crap mechanically We (well the better half) is getting Mustang mach-e.
Ordered at end of September looking at a Feb delivery date, since then it's been coming down and expected date is now 25th December.
Advantage of new is of course you get the spec you want, and you don't have to deal with mouth breathers selling - just the mouth breathing official dealers

If you can find a 530e in stock with the spec you want (good luck!), then now is probably the time.
I've recently bought a 530e (2018) and love it!
Good to know I'm really not spec fussy to be honest as long as it has heated seats, memory seats and decent sound system (which looks like it comes standard on the 5 series) the rest doesn't bother me haha I've recently bought a 530e (2018) and love it!
What electric range do you really get from yours?
We bought a new Kia Xceed a few months ago. It was in stock and 22% off list through a broker, as I don't think they're very popular (which is strange considering how good they are). It's already lost about £1,000 in 4 months from WBAC but it was still cheaper than second hand and Cazoo would still give us a bit more than what we paid for which is weird. I am expecting £10k depreciation in 7 years, the length of the warranty.

Find a used approved one? I did. Because I had just sold my last car for strong money, it offset the asking price of the BMW.

Ouch. So, used approved as above?
That was an approved used admittedly it was 6 months old but they're retailing at 45-56k plus bmws terrible 8.9% Apr didn't help. Hoping things start to dip now so we can get in one. I might look at new as there's far more dealer contributions towards new. Have emailed TRL too see what he can offer.

I'm on the cusp (finally) of FTK on an XC90 and going new makes sense for me.
Nearly new dealer stock isn't much cheaper in the current climate and manufacturer discounts/cheaper APR rates on new, especially if financing, means there's not a lot in it.
I am being told Mar22 delivery if I order now but that suits me fine.
