Going to do this once I've got it out of the bodyshop and ask them to check the software and update if necessary...

Anything else I should ask them (re gearbox maybe etc); or should I get the place that's going to service my autobox to do any software updates/resets etc?

A main dealer will only update the whole car’s software, not individual ecus.

An Indy with ISTA P with expert mode enabled can update single modules. I suspect Autologic can do single modules too. Another option is XHP, in addition to the XHP software it gives you the latest BMW software.

You may the main dealer is reluctant to do a whole car update as on older cars there is a risk of an ecu failing.

Cheers for that though; I don't know anyone with INSTA P unfortunately; so that's out...

Apparently there was a software recall on the F01s but it was never 'announced' and you'll only find out about it if you go to the dealer and ask them to do the updates...

I'll see what's said

I think it’s probably what BMW call a “quality enhancement” rather than a recall. If your car goes into a main dealer for any work the q.a. will be carried out for free. Well worth phoning your local dealer and asking if there are any outstanding QAs.
