Bear with me as im playing piggy in the middle here..

My 15yr old lad has bought a new case for his PC and decided to have a go at transferring all the components over himself. But there's now a graphics card problem. There is power going to the graphics card, but no output from it to the monitor.

Is there anything simple he may have done wrong please?

try reseating the GPU in the motherboard, with power off..

Check power cables.

Might sound daft but make sure he’s connected the video cable to the graphics card and not the onboard graphics instead.

Couple of things to check (assuming he's not damaged anything during the move):
  1. Ensure sure the GPU is seated fully and all power cables to it are fully pressed home
  2. Ensure the cable is plugged into the correct port (i.e. the GPU outputs, not the motherboard outputs)
  3. Ensure the monitor input signal is set to the same as the output he's trying to use (some monitors will go back to default settings if they don't initially detect a signal, so try cycling through the input options)

Turned out to be this ^^^

Took the PC to a local repair shop this morning who diagnosed that my lad hadn't seated the graphics card properly into the motherboard and had misaligned some pins in the connector. All sorted now and we got the PC back the same day. Thanks.

I did exactly this when I built my first PC years ago - was going proper spare and swearing like a good 'un until I stopped and actually looked....
