Swoll get off your EV evangelist high horse. I like EVs, I like ICE and find all transportation interesting. The point I am making and it’s probably more about me recognising the fact is that most people don’t give a s
t about cars as they are purely a form of transportation. With the drivetrain of an EV being even more simplistic than ICE and in the main silent ish it’s an ideal time for market disruption with previously unknown brands coming to market.
Not every comment on a thread about an EV car needs some crappy comments about ICE vehicles.

Looks like a game changer. I have just seem some of the videos and reviews.
Hopeful it will be available in a 1-2 years in the UK well under the 20k point. If so this will make me move to EV.
What are your views?
A lot of people are certainly banging on about it being a game changer but then there are a lot of other very cheap, very capable Chinese EVs that won’t ever make it to the UK either. Nobody’s actually presenting proof that BYD are actually interested in selling cars here (them looking at doing so in Norway doesn’t count) Hopeful it will be available in a 1-2 years in the UK well under the 20k point. Toaster have you still got the MG? I think the point is that there will be a point where affordable options become available. Not everyone can afford a Tesla nor do they need the range. I think buyers will need to look at themselves and seriously work out what they need for 98% of their usage. It used to be that say a new Mondeo was what you wanted. You would pay more for a bigger engine and better trim levels but the new thing needs to be the range from a single charge. I also think people need to have that honest conversation about what they need day to day. Most could likely charge once a week or less. Others need more. I’m considering an Enyak 60 till my new Defender turns up in 13 months. The 60 is enough and with eco suite gives the right interior to make it not basic, £33k. The bigger batteries are pointless for us.
What got me interested was that design for BYD is now headed by Audi's ex design chief, they are at the frontier of battery tech and battery safety, have a European business now set up, getting ready to run. 50 of their e6 models landed in the UK recently for a fleet trial.
I think chinese ev brands, starting with this one will be the go to for family buyers who would normally turn to Vauxhall, Ford, Kia and such.

Ref the BYD E6 landing recently, are you sure?! I think chinese ev brands, starting with this one will be the go to for family buyers who would normally turn to Vauxhall, Ford, Kia and such.
This article says 2013, and the car looks like it’s from about 2003, being generous.

BYD seem to have already set a benchmark in the UK elsewhere, being one of the leading manufacturers of pure electric bus chassis, so it seems they do have potential as a real condender in the UK marketplace.
It'll be interesting how they attack, given that currently MG seem to be about the only EV manufacturer doing any sort of affordable deal, offering 0% finance and minimal deposit on some of their stuff. I wonder whether BYD will take a similar approach, which presumably is in recognition of market scepticism over Chinese marques, or if they'll do a Dacia and go down the 'take it or leave it' cheap with no discounts path.

Lots of interesting cars being made by huge Chinese EV companies. When cars are more like appliances than ever before with the soulless nature of EVs our markets will be flooded with affordable Chinese transportation devices.
Cars dont have souls. hth.

Now you're catching on!
The whole concept of Souls is just fantasy! Especially so when talking about lumps of mechanical things.
It’s just an expression to try and convey the notion that driving is more involved than just flicking a switch. It’s the noise, vibration even the smells. All of my cars are different experiences one is 66 yrs old. Get off your soapbox Elon. The whole concept of Souls is just fantasy! Especially so when talking about lumps of mechanical things.
