Is it possible to pair one bluetooth headset to another to achieve a simple intercom system in a car? :)

I'd say No I'm afraid Ted...

Dependant on budget, have you had a look at Demon Tweeks for you in car comms that you're looking for?

Some of the practice rally stuff may well be cheap enough to use...

The trouble with kits intended for bikes is that they are designed for use in a helmet, so wouldn't work so well without one (unless you tape them to your head!)

Maybe a bike style kit with some madonna style headsets would do the job!

I had a quick look at Demon Tweeks but all the gear was a bit bulky or loads of wires etc. I was looking for a cheap and cheerful and simple system.

Guess it's two yoghurt pots and a bit of string then...

What about something like these?

I bought a pair for driver communication when running our FS car. They've got headphone and microphone sockets so a simple boom mic (that Maplin also sell) could do the trick.

As it turned out, our car is a little too loud to use them effectively but they'd be fine in roadcar. They're dirt cheap too.

HTH.
