Monty Don, Adam Frost & the anti fox hunters

Seems folk are jumping on Monty for voicing support for his co presenter Adam attending a fun ride put on by a local hunt.

As I read it, Twitterists didn't like Adam attending the fun ride as it raises money for their trail hunt, Monty tweeted defending Adam for not legally doing anything wrong and now Twitter accuses Monty of supporting fox hunting, which I don't believe he does.

Regardless, why do celebs bother to have social media accounts, they only end up shooting themselves in the foot by saying or appearing to say the wrong thing.

The animalists had a go at Phil Spencer last month for shooting a deer, threatened to target Channel 4 with protests unless they sacked him from Location, Location, Location. AFAIK he is still there. Best way to respond to noisy social media activists of whatever kind is to ignore them and their ridiculously self-important, entitled "demands", but most celebs, companies and institutions just try to appease them. It's the modern day Danegeld.

Why anyone posts on social media I don't know , it's toxic

There really should be an option on Twitter/other to use your real name on it, fully verified, and allow only other people using their real verified names to read/reply to.
