Business Property Relief AIM Shares - IHT exempt eligibility
Discussion
My late father built the majority of his ISA share portfolio around shares which he intended to be exempt from inheritance tax by virtue of being in the Alternative investment Market (AIM) and (hopefully) qualifying for Business Property Relief (BPR) .
To qualify for BPR the companies concerned would have had to followed HMRCs requirements for the two years before the share holder's death.
Has anyone here had to find out if an AIM shareholding did qualify for BPR, and was it a case of contacting the ISA provider, or the AIM company itself?
