Neighbour throwing eggs

My 40 yr old neighbour was throwing eggs the other night. My daughter had an 18th party around 10 friends round. 2 Sonos one speakers on which I'd limited the volume to 60%. At 11pm the neighbour lent over the fence and told them to shut the F up. Then lobbed an egg. We had a BBQ in the summer and had eggs thrown and couldn't work out where they were from.
Should I stock up on eggs?

It's my son's 18th on Saturday. He's expecting about 10 mates. If he's in the garden playing loud music at 11pm he'll get more than eggs thrown at him.

He shouldn't be throwing things but clearly you're annoying him (and I'd wager not for the first/second time) with your noise and 11pm is probably a good time to stop playing loud music outside.

Go speak to him and resolve the situation I also think inviting people round or at least telling them before hand and saying if it's too loud please come and tell us etc..stops people getting upset and thinking you're taking the piss.

I think I would get REALLY childish at egg throwing. I don’t mind being asked to turn down music and would be happy to do so (although maybe not so if I was invited to ‘shut the F up’ as in the OP’s case), but if a neighbour started lobbing eggs over the fence at a BBQ I would buy literally hundreds and hundreds of them and completely bombard the back of his house with them, and probably more childishly especially if he was in the back garden.

Not defending your neighbour's choice of language or the egg throwing, but 11pm is getting on a bit for music outside. Noise tends to carry more at night as well. A few weeks back I was woken at about 3am by a couple of people having a conversation at the end of our road. They were talking in low voices and were probably about 80 yards away from our bedroom window, but it was enough to disturb me.

11 feels late to me for having outside music. Your neighbour sounds like a dick and the sensible thing would have been to knock on your door to ask you to keep a lid on it. If I were you I'd go round and have an adult word and try and get things back on friendly terms as it's not worth having neighbour issues if can be avoided.

11pm is a bit late though and throwing eggs is a bit of a dick move. Someone near us has obviously annoyed some local oiks and they keep getting their windows egged. Absolute nightmare to get off apparently.

10 teenagers and music outside at 11pm ... it's going to be noisy.

Why not be a bit more considerate? Why don't they just go to the pub?

The egg throwing is childish but I appreciate their annoyance.

It isn't just the music though - a group of teens are not listening quietly, there will be raised voices, laughing etc. After 11 on a weeknight, I can understand his irritation, if not his methods of expressing them.

Indeed. One usually retires to the library to listen to ones gramophone.

Living in a housing estate and playing loud music with ten teenagers past 11pm isn't really on.
