Seems to be the Mumsnet for blokes biggrin

I think there's an excellent mix of people from the full range of expertise and status levels that can inform/educate/help others. I've personally benefited greatly from the help of contributors when I've asked questions, so it's my 1st port of call when looking for answers.

It's also a good way of keeping up with current affairs and trends in the motoring world.

Obviously within any large group of people there'll be idiots, but overall I think it's great.

What draws you to PistonHeads?

I came in 2004 looking to buy a TVR S

I stopped because it such a welcoming, fun place, where people don't think they're always right and never correct one another for small, pointless things.

I tried mumsnet, however found it to be a little bit too aggressive.

I joined way back in 2008, I can’t remember how I found it, just did probably because I am a car nut.

I hardly posted at all for years, I do a lot more now as I am working from home predominantly.
I have more time.
It’s my one stop shop for most things.

For instance my regular trips to Spain were helped immeasurable on the Holidays and Travel thread - navigating all the red tape etc. I came to learn so much, friends and family were coming to me for advice .

The only downside I see in so many positive aspects to the site - there is simply too much to read!

I only found the Lounge very recently , and it has kept me very entertained indeed.

Twenty years ago, people were nice in here.

There are some quiet corners that still are.

I find the relationship threads quite interesting. Maybe a bit one sided as they usually end up negative.

Always good to learn from the senior citizens!

I came here looking for some specific car advice, but found it to generally be like a favourite old pub, so I've stayed hoping they don't call last orders.

"Because I got no place else to go".

Many other sub forums have a decent bunch of guys with shared interests. I deliberately avoid NP&E and sometimes GG for the usual reasons.

It's a good place to get solid advice if you ask the right questions. you don't have to go far to find an expert, or at worst, someone very knowledgeable on any given subject.

Because I no longer owned an Impreza anymore, so Scoobynet just got too boring.

Plus there is an amazing wealth of knowledge on here, literally no matter what you ask someone on here will have experience and be able to give you a decent answer.

Very interesting question…

I think for me Pistonheads is so entertaining and informative.

The threads I follow or contribute to are very gentlemanly, friendly and a bit of a laugh.
When I have had a ‘phone a friend type question’ none of my physical world friends and colleagues can answer, there is always some practical friendly advice on here.

Periodically I encounter the odd vexatious thread or individual…easy enough to move on and not get involved..
