Shell V-Power Diesel and half the oil change intervals.

Try and get a decent run out once per month to give it an opportunity to DPF regen.

Agree

I've always found a good Italian tune up and using Shells VPower diesel helps keep the engine running smoothly; did great for my previous E65 730D and my Dad does the same with his X3 3.0D xDrive

Oil changes once a year minimum too (I'll be doing 2 as I don't do many miles; but for the price of a full tank of fuel, I can do x2 oil changes a year to keep it fresh & tip-top)

Italian tune up, using a tank of Shell V-Power generally does wonders.

Just remember a lot of the additives are snake oil, not sure if anybody else remembers the thread started by Redex, it didn't really work out for them as they refused point blank to provide any data to show that their products worked and the thread was removed.

There are a few vendors that do provide evidence - i''ve used Archoil https://www.amazon.co.uk/Archoil-AR6400-D-Professi... with good results - cleared up a hesitation and engine ran smoother etc.
Recommended by a garage who did not sell the additive at the time.

I'm guessing a tank of V Power would give 500-600 miles.
Just how can you do an Italian Tune Up that covers that type of milage?
Surely your licence would be lost long before 600 miles?

No need to take it literally.

Mine is run exclusively on V Power. Gets a MWay run out at least once per week. Oil does no more that 9k miles between changes.

My opinion is if any company could make a product that genuinely improved performance of oil or fuel then a manufacturer would also make it and advertise it heavily.

The fact they don't speaks volumes.

As has been said on here just be more sensible with services, 8 to 10k oil changes, use a high quality oil, and use premium fuel, and give it the beans from time to time.

If it’s already sluggish I don’t know what you expect.

What I mean is, an oil additive won’t help if it’s already sluggish! Try a remap!

I’m a real diesel nerd, my routine is always premium diesel, frequent oil/filter changes, always Millers Ecomax and more recently I’ve discovered this product instead of Millers - https://www.amazon.co.uk/HYDRA-Maximus-Diesel-Boos...

My van engine is renowned for egr and dpf issues, I’ve had absolutely no issues at all with my engine.

I’ve also got a Revo map and make around 250bhp, not too shabby for an old brick.

I'm not calling them snake oil, but I can't find any test results on their website? Do you have a link to any test results?

This is where I am looking, and I just see what would be described as anecdotal evidence, they call them case studies, but there is not much science behind the testing and in most cases it is a single test on a single vehicle done by someone else other than Archoil, and generally a member of the general public reporting MOT test results for example.
