As per the title please, looking for a way to add more memory to the latest iPad Air 64gig. My son Needs to store a lot of films to cover regular flights to and from South America and he has the 64gig iPad Air so a memory stick seems best solution?

Thanks in advance .

How much storage do you need, and what's your budget?

Apple's website suggests this 500GB Lacie drive is suitable for the latest USB-C iPad Air - but it's £120 from Apple (a bit cheaper elsewhere)

However, you 'should' be able to use similar drives from Crucial for about half that ( e.g. a 1TB X8 is £100 on Amazon or a 500GB X6 model is about £60 ).

Also if he uses something like Handbrake he can rip the films down to a smaller filesize (but still very watchable on an ipad) to get many more on the drive.

Can you watch movies from a memory stick on an ipad? I always thought that was not possible?

To be honest I don’t know, I didn’t realise you could use an SSD with an iPad but since seeing the posts above I’ve read that power for the SSD comes from the iPad….. I had thought it would have to be a stick but every day is a school day!

As you've found out, the power comes from the iPad...but that's why SSDs are perfect as they draw much less power than a spinning HDD would.
