I use Youtube a lot, I know they collect info on me, how useful it is to them I don't know, I don't use any other scial media, neither do I use web cams or mics so there is no oppertunity to use my biometric data, but it is quite scary that they are collecting such info, especially Tik Tok that is owned and controlled by China.
We’ve known it was a Chinese spyware app since it became ‘popular’.
I’d never heard of it until the start of the lockdown when BBC News started broadcasting wall to wall nhs dance videos instead of reporting on the news.
It was like the BBC was in charge of TikTok’s PR and advertising.

Bear in mind that most of the information we get these days comes through the filters of those same US companies that are threatened by Chinese rivals.
It's no more of a spyware app than Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any of the other US based social media apps many of us have already. It doesn't have some super powers that allow it to collect anything more than they do (and we know they're logging every breath we take). It's also still an app running on US-based operating systems.

I saw a post on Reddit a while ago where some guy had viewed the code behind it and basically advised everyone to never ever let it near any device ever.
Just for fun I watched a few of the new YouTube shorts, I watched the manufacturing process ones fully but scrolled past anything else. It soon learnt to just show me the " workers working with process workishly" and "good happy workings happyneess" which were all originally on tiktok and designed to show just how happy to slave to provide the world with consumer s
te the average Chinese person is.
The CCP is dominating online. We're woefully unprepared.
