I've been running a 2014 330d F31 for 50k over 3 years. The only issue I had was the usual EGR recall, the part was replaced twice by BMW and then I just had it mapped out and physically blanked off.

Evidence of regular oil changes at 9k-10k is what i'd be looking for at least. For regular servicing they are very easy to work on yourself.

You could check DPF soot levels if you have access to ISTA, but unlikely to be an issue

I had my ZF8 serviced at 65k at a cost of £350 by a specialist - it feels like it did at 25k. I did the diff oil myself at 75k for £50.

Some will mention rod bearing failures on N57, hard to know how common this is, but general wisdom is it that is more common on N47s and 35/40d's in the N57 range - compounded with engines that have had infrequent oil changes and poor use cycles.
