I built a shuttle PC many years ago, bought an HP to replace it about five years ago. I hate windows10 with a passion. Totally pi$$ed of when I could not load an old version of ms office onto it would not accept, I had to buy latest version which I did not need.

So I have continued to use the shuttle with no problem until now.

Pc boots up ok and monitor show green led but no display. Tried reseating connecting plugs etc to no avail.

So how do I proceed? New cable or new video card?

Shuttle is an old friend do not want to scrap, really pleased with myself when I assembled it and it worked first time, I am not in IT, it is a tool.

Alternatively can someone explain how I can get Windows bloody 10 to accept early version of office?

Have you tested the monitor? Can you plug something else into it to see if it works or not and get a display.

If you can get a display on the monitor you can discount a monitor display failure.

You mention no picture from the GPU, does your PC also have integrated graphics, if so can you plug your monitor cable into the motherboard IO and see if you can get a picture through that?

Do you know what CPU you have in your PC?

First thing - getting a dumb Q out of the way have you turned the brightness down to zero by accident?

If you turn the monitor on with it disconnected do you get a "splash screen" for the monitor would it normally put one up? For example a LG TV shows an LG logo on power on, my AOC monitors put up an AOC logo. the green LED should also come on and then it should put up a message "no source" or something like yet and/or just drop into standby after 10-15 seconds. Then if you plug the monitor back into the powered on PC what happens?

When you power on the PC - do you get a BIOS splash screen - if you don't it's not going to be software, but hardware.

Now if the monitor light is green, shine a light on the screen with the PC connected and powered on move the mouse around the screen - hit the start button on the keyboard - can you see things on your PC screen move but faintly.. I've had this happen with several old monitors and a TV and it was the backlight.

if the monitor is green when it's plugged into the PC it's getting a signal from The PC, if you haven't changed or moved anything it's not likely to be a cable or even the video card - I'd suggest it's display related

I have Office 2007 running on two Windows 10 computers. Also Office 2016 on Windows 11 and Office 2021 on Windows 11.

Which version, and what message does it give you when you try?
