infotainment advice
Discussion
Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone can assist. Last week I was taking the Vanquish 2015 model for a service and during the drive there my infotainment system went click then a blank screen the tweeters dropped music stopped, the screen stayed upright it then immediately re booted. About 30 mins later it did the same thing.
Today it did it about 3 or 4 times and re started again almost straight away.
It goes click then off.
has anyone had a similar experience and is there a way of fixing eg clean a fuse or reboot etc. or do I need an auto electrician to find a gremlin.

Probably one of the many system crashes? I assume you have AMi II at 2015? If so not sure what the solution will be as all the patches I am aware of to fix this kind of thing relate to the later AMi III, which of course was the successor system that came after AMi II. AMi II only lasted a little over 12mths.

Many thanks for your input Poshbury and Adam,I will have a chat with AM service and see what they think is causing the fault. It isn't just while the car is moving it can also happen when stationary. It sounds like an electrical click then off and on. I will try pulling the fuse and cleaning the terminals.
Hi All,
Just a quick update.
The infotainment system progressively got worse so it would go pssst and the screen would cut out, the tweeters retreat back into the dash and the music would cease, then it would re boot and search for blue tooth and fire back up and then about 10-15 mins later it would go pssst again and do the same shut down.
As suggested by this forum I contacted the local service dealer and booked the car in for an examination. The service department upgraded the software and problem fixed. It cost $289 which was better than buying new parts but perhaps should have been a freebee considering the car is only 5.5 years old but hey I received a free car wash into the bargain.
I am very happy. Thanks for your input.

I completely agree that a software update should be FOC. They are essentially rectifying something that was sub-standard in the first place.
If the software update added new features or improved performance then ok, but only as a customer choice, not because the bloody thing has failed!
What is to stop manufacturers cheating on the software (anyone come to mind?) to cause faults further down the line, ie out of warranty, and then getting paid to fix them? Nothing, until they may or may not get caught. I know of at least 5 incidents where electronic faults occurred within a month of the warranty expiring, none of which were fixed even as a gesture of goodwill.
Easily programmed in with both mileage and time embedded in the ECU.

Now that would be a nasty practice. It would be like the gardener doing your mowing and fertilizing your lawn with a mix of fertilizer and weed seed.If the software update added new features or improved performance then ok, but only as a customer choice, not because the bloody thing has failed!

As this is an infotainment topic, I hope the OP will not mind a brief diversion.
When was the Mercedes-Benz MBUX system first introduced to their cars ?
I think now it is probably fitted throughout their model range.
Certainly seems to be well thought of. Fairly intuitive and three different ways of operating the system.
Do all AM models still have the previous version of M-B infotainment ?
