Hi,

Has anyone ordered a Taycan Cross and does anyone have any insight in the lead times?

Also for anyone lucky enough to own one. Is there any options you wished you got or not wasted money on?

Thanks

It's a bit random right now. I ordered a 4S CT in May and I'm expecting a January delivery. Some people who ordered in July have already had their cars...make sense of that.

The reality now is they are so in demand an order placed today you'd be lucky if you saw that in 2022.

Last week I was advised the lead time is 12 months for a 4S CT.

What spec are you going for? What lead time have you been quoted?

May. Due this month. Confirmed on track Nov 5th. But I worry as its still wooly...

This is just me OK: on options I tried to go for stuff that ADDED to the spec rather than just changed as they don't credit you with the value of the original part when you change something & I used the silly tightarse parameter of 'value' to help decide.

So yes I'll buy the coloured hub caps afterwards for the same as the option price but get to keep the skinflint black and white ones! I wont pay £300 to change a paint pot - but I will pay £150 to wrap my skirts and splitter black. I wont pay £2400 for contrasting stitching as its a rip off but I will pay the same amount for the active roll bar addition PDCC as its trick and to do with dynamics and ride quality. There is no doubt they look better on 21" but I went for 20" for many reasons - can dump £3k on stunning Vossens should I develop 1st world issues with the range friendly 20". Gutted HUD was too expensive mind - loved the same on a Beemer for half the cost. Pano is irrelevant in many's opinion as a driver doesn't notice it (never noticed it in the Macan) and it slaps an extra 40kg up high, plus the std roof is sexy with its creases.

RWS, 150kw DC charger upgrade, Sport Chrono and 4+1 seating are essential.

Keep a cool head as the car itself is ace as is, but, if you have it, line their pockets and get something fab. You only live once - but beware that the extra cost may be ignored at resale (one day when the premium is gone).

Agree - I would add PDDC, HUD (keeping an eye on speed is especially crucial).

Personally, some of the cheaper options were key for me, based on other owner's feedback; sports sound a gimmick, yes but I love it), interior lighting (really lifts the interior at night).

Awesome car. I love everything about it.

Great to hear.

Just worked with a client all day and hubby has an EV. I enquired more - it was silver. He called and we spoke - only a crayon Turbo S that she thinks cost £12k. On my absolute ar$e LOL!

I've gone for

4S Cross
Volcano grey,
120DC charger
Bose
Pano roof
roof rails in black (gonna buy the transport system on my own)
privacy glass
black surrounds on windows
red seatbelts
Didnt get any leather options (i have done the same for my macan, i prefer partial)

The cross comes with active suspension as standard and more capacity battery.

I didn't think about HUD. I dont need any extra aids such as ACC etc.

Big fan of the PDLS+ lights - so the upgraded ones, but not the super expensive ones - will vary by spec, but make sure you get the PDLS+ at least. Well worth the money and some of the best lights on the market. You choice if you want the ones that are more expensive, though I think everything above base comes with it, but worth checking.

I must admit, I hadn't thought of it like that before, will bear in mind for future purchases.

I've done it in the past.
BMW had on it's 5-series wheels that were quoted as 3k as a list option. I inquired for the price of the wheels separately... 3k.

So you basically have 2 sets of OEM wheels that way.

Perhaps particularly useful on a Taycan where if you pick the Mission E wheels you’re forced to also take a suitably expensive brake upgrade that does god knows what. I can understand a brake upgrade potentially requiring a wheel upgrade but the other way around…

Maybe an even better approach would be buying wheels separately from the 911 or something to avoid the ugly aero look entirely. Seeing as Porsche does some very nice wheels. It would make the car stand out a bit too.

I had thought of getting it on 19" and using those as winters whilst popping on some nice Vossens. You end up with 2 sets of wheels for less than the price of the 21" upgrade - such is their pricing model... [Currently railing against 7.5% on business HP v 2.8% on personal loan...secured loans should be CHEAPER than unsecured ones surely...]

If you can afford it the turbo comes well loaded compared to a 4s performance by the time I was finished I didn’t realise I was only £6k of a turbo price
The extras are costly and some of the things they charge for are standard elsewhere
Passenger screen - waste of money
Pano roof - you wouldn’t know it was there from the drivers seat
Electric charge ports - cool / nice
21 inch wheels - finish it off / I don’t notice any range reduction (230 cold 265 warm weather )
Performance battery -a must for me , if you drive fast 90-100 you don’t get anywhere near the range you started with 😂
Sports pack - nice but expensive
18 way seats - a MUST have so comfy
standard stereo - absolute sh!te you must upgrade if you remotely like music
These cars are worth waiting for , I’m being offered list price minus 6/7% for mine with 12000 miles and 11 month old ( highly specked) 😱. Looking for a turbo but can’t afford to be without decent car till it comes Hope this helps

Hi All,

When i ordered my car i was given a delivery date of 2nd of May, my weekly status email i get from them has said this for the last 6 months or so.

I sold my car last week after last weeks latest status email as I'm away on leave till the end of April. The following Tuesday, after feeling pretty chuffed after the cash landed in my bank I get an email from leasing company saying it's been delayed my new ETA is December 2022. The leasing company blaming Porsche for not providing them with updated information. frown

So now i'm carless whilst thinking i got an amazing deal on the car I've just sold back to the dealer. biggrin and now having to find an over priced 2nd hand car until December or whenever it's going to be. Dealer always wins...

I suppose it's first world problems and i know that with all the crap going on in the world these things happen but to be told a few of weeks before delivery is a bit poor IMO. frown

Hey ho off to buy a £30k Vectra... wink

I wouldn’t rely on that ETA either. The wiring looms for the Taycan come from Ukraine……..

I assume Porsche are trying to sort out alternative supply but it won’t be a quick process.
