Something a bit different...

I currently have the fuel tank out to replace those short 12mm ID fuel hoses and a new filler hose too. Here's what one of the original sections looked like. Glad I've changed them.

Anyway, now it's out I took a look at the original boot carpets and thought while it is out I might as well tidy the boot with new ones. I'll make them from some van lining material, edging tape and a heavy duty sewing machine but I'm not sure about the piece I have that goes under the boot latch.

Could you please let me know if there should be a letter box hole where it is? Or should it be lower to allow easier access to the registration light bulbs? Or should it be something else? There is a piece of material inside the letterbox to pull out to get to the bulbs underneath. The straps in the pics are for the fuel tank.

I'd just like to replace it properly or make something more practical for access purposes. Were they like that originally? I can't find many pictures on the internet about what that section should look like.

The piece behind the letterbox should be glued down not removable. Access to the bulbs is by removing the lamp unit.
The letterbox is only there because it would be difficult to get the carpet to stretch over the hump without forming big creases.
