Stopped for speeding

I was on an empty M1 at 3am in the morning, travelling t between 100 and 120mph. I know, i should not have been doing so but there we are. Can't turn the clock back. A single officer in an unmarked car followed me for about 35 miles before pulling me over.
He read the riot act about 'anything you say can be taken in evidence against you, etc, etc but was actually very decent.
He asked me about 3 times if I was late and clearly wanted a certain answwr but i told him (perfectly truthfully) that I was neither early or late.
He took my licence back to his car and having done whatever he felt necessary, he handed it back to me. This was over a month ago and I have heard nothing to date.
How long do they have to issue you with a summons?

Yep. 6 months. Dn't get it confused with a N.I.P which has to be issued within two weeks (speed camera offences etc)
What the officer would have said is 'You will be reported for the consideration of prosectuting you for the offence of driving like a dick/ exceeding the speed limit. You do not have to say anything but it may harm your defence if you do not mention now something you later rely on in court.'
The NIP in this case is the caution.
Hopefully you get banned.

This. It sounds rather bizarre and unlikely that they’d follow you for that long. Are you sure he was genuine? To allow you to travel at that sort of speed for so long doesn’t sound like good policing to me. If it was a genuine pull I’d definitely be looking at a ban.

No worries. I wouldn’t worry unduly, sent a man to Court for a verified 130mph in heavy traffic and terrible weather conditions in Feb, he pleaded not guilty but changed plea after I gave my evidence. Delivery driver by trade, already with 3 points for speeding. Received 6 points and a large fine! Sometimes you catch the Magistrates on the right day and plead effectively…

Does seem a bit odd!Well over 100 with no mitigating circumstances means you're probably looking at a ban. Whether it's a long or short ban will depend on how well you come across at the court hearing. If you can convince them you really need a car you might get away with 6 points and a large fine.

OP, ignore the members of BRAKE who seem to infest PH these days.
I've been in a similar situation to you but not on a motorway, and after being followed for about 5 miles, had a proper dressing down starting with 'what do you think the judge will say?, but didn't hear anymore.
An old boss of mine who was pulled on occasions, said to me, if the officer is alone, it can come down to their word against yours and a good barrister will get you off. I know this is 'bloke on the internet said' but you may be ok.
