Check, in this case a version of Together in Electric Dreams that sounds like it was performed by someone who has tumbled down a well and just realised nobody is coming to rescue her.

Could they not have jazzed it up a bit and used the original, breathy woman singing "classics" and ruining them has been done to death.

I liked it. But then I’m a sentimental old fool.

I'm a bit surprised the journalist presumes the alien is a girl.

Interesting conundrum, if I'm running a suite of effective youtube ad blockers, will I still see the ad...? /s

The Guardian write up was so much better than the ad. Watched the ad and thought 'nope not this year, it's cr@p'

Not sure. Interested to know more about the YouTube ad blockers though. They piss me off going to ads during a video, but I'm buggered if I'm paying for premium.

I don't care about the woke stuff, that's what they want to do fine., doesn't offend me.

But I thought the ad was just a bit crap really. Song wasn't great, it was all over the place, just a bit nothing really.

I think they peaked with the stop motion animals and Lily Allen singing Somewhere only we know.

People in Sheffield unhappy with the choice of Phil Oakey song, seeing as JL closed its Sheffield store recently.

So did I. ET is one of my favourite films, and this advert is ET, in essence. Good work, JL, 9 out of 10.

This years one is now out there.

Certainly plucks at the heart strings, also seems aligned with some other retailers who are toning down their Christmas offerings.

I'm a rubbish skate boarder so i can relate to that part at least.

Agree entirely and it didnt end as I thought it was going to so the end was a bit of a twist for me. Lovely advert and highlights a very important other side to Christmas.
