Which smart lock for a multipoint handle up door?
Discussion
(Mods would you mind leaving this here as although it t could be considered a “home” topic, there’s much more chance of getting help here as it’s more a “gadget” type topic, thanks).
I have a property that I’d like to add a smart lock to and have no experience at all with them. The front doir is a handle up multipoint type affair.
I’ve seen that you can get euro lock replacement smart locks which would obviously be simplest but I imagine replacing the entire lock would be a better option.
However there doesn’t seem to be a clear indication of dimensions on these things, eg distance if the euro cylinder to edge of door-30mm, 40mm end also the position of handle bolt holes and screw holes.
How do you match these things up?

We’ve had an Ultion smart lock for just over a year.
You get to retain a key (which uses a kind of two-factor authentication for key cutting). The lock itself has a £2000 guarantee against being broken.
The smart bit has two options…
1. Bluetooth with Alexa compatibility. This has a few advantages over the other one in that you can share e-keys with other people. You can also do proximity lock/unlock
2. HomeKit (we have this one), slightly less functionality but works for us.
Not taken a key out with me for months.
The fact you retain the option to use a regular key was the main factor for me… kill the Yale and it’s locksmith time.
The Ultion website has a tool to help you decide which one you need. They also have accredited fitters.
I fitted ours but it was replacing the non-smart lock from them that came with our new front door.

I've been looking at the Linus as well. I already have Cisa keyed alike cylinders on a few doors so retaining the original lock is appealing.
One thing to be aware of. My Cisa cylinder works from outside with a key left in on the inside which a lot of cylinders don't, you'll need to add on the cost of the marching cylinder they do specifically for the Linus

It sounds great but by god does it look ugly, I just watched the installation video, it's massive!
How safe is it with small children? I feel this would make it easier for my 3 year old to open the front door?
We have the escutcheon version so you only have the smart bit on the inside and nothing at all on the outside (no handles). It's quite big, I suppose but looks cleaner in the version we have. How safe is it with small children? I feel this would make it easier for my 3 year old to open the front door?
I think it would be much harder for a child to open (assuming you don't switch on the opening assistance feature).
We'd have to have the handle version. I'm assuming if he can reach it he simply has to turn it to unlock it and away he goes?
How does the proximity stuff work? If I'm approaching the house from the outside with my phone it'll unlock automatically, but what if I'm inside the house? Does it unlock itself every time you happen to walk past the door with your phone?

Without the "power-assist" it's a full turn of the lock to unlock it - we all know how surprising kids can be so I suppose I wouldn't rule anything out!How does the proximity stuff work? We only have the HomeKit version so the proximity stuff doesn't work for us (although I suppose it can be done with other automation apps). I would assume it can be disabled.
We use the Apple shortcuts app to create quick access icons on iPhone and Apple Watch to do a slightly quicker door unlock action - saves opening the Danalock app.
I think I like the idea of sharing digital keys but the HomeKit version can't do this either. You have to be a member of the Apple "Home" in order to access the lock.

Ok so it looks like the Yale L1 Conexis or Linus or…nothing
I don’t think the L1 will fit, the bolt holes are either side of the handle, yours are like mine and closer together, below the handle. I went or a Bold SX lock, it’s not as integrated and the Auto Unlock doesn’t work very well but otherwise it’s good enough.Proximity works on basis you have to go 200m from the property for it to register as a new approach. Having said that sometimes my wife’s phone unlocks it in the house!
