I'm selling a car today privately for the first time, approx £14k.

Other than giving the buyer the logbook slip, is there anything else that I need to do? The car is not taxed.
How do I ensure any fines etc that may occur today are not sent to me?

Receipt from template, e.g. the AA one. Signed, dated, and probably timed as well. Complete the V5 bits online, remind the buyer that he needs to tax the vehicle, maybe offer your wifi for him to do that (new keeper slip should work, unless its been SORN for a while)

Well, unless you're selling it for your home, in which case get them to walk!!

The only two cars I've sold, I didn't get any attempts to haggle, which probably let them go too cheap. But I was very clear of the faults in the ad, so had already priced them in.
