No apologies for the Mail link, this is exactly what the paper is for:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10168607/...

Basically, a chap has got a dog he has no way of looking after, apart from brining into work with him.

His employers (who generally get to say how employees do things, rather than the other way round) want the dog gone.

Which leaves the chap no option but to quit his job? As he can't arrange anyone to dog sit. You could say he was being hounded out.

2,000 villagers are on his side, but presumably none want to look after the dog for him.

Thoughts? (The more dog jokes, the better smile )

Stourbridge Junction won an award because of their friendly station cats so I can't see why he's getting told this.

One has even got his own twitter page!

Why not just leave the dog in his car in the carpark. Or leave it at home like millions of other people do? So long as he can check on it now and then in his car, it'll be fine, similarly at home.

Or leave it at home and pay someone £20 to pop in twice and take it for a walk. Lots of dog walkers in the area and £20 or so seems more cost effective than no job.

I’m guessing SW rail are a bit nervous about the dog biting someone and they’d be liable? No mention of how much the dog is worth thoughscratchchin

I love this quote

one said: 'This is absolutely awful! Richard you are the best station master and a total asset to British Rail.'

Someone is out of date.

‘A spokesperson for South Western Railway said: 'While we don’t allow dogs to be brought into workplaces across our network, we recognise the strength of feeling in Horsley and are looking into the individual circumstances of this case.'

Maybe he should remember to mention it’s his “support “ dog ?

Abandoning a dog for 8hrs+ a day isn't the sort of life you should be imposing on an intelligent, domesticated animal.

TBF I agree broadly with that sentiment, although my own dog, when he does come into work with me, has been known to snooze from just after 7am until gone 5pm.

He has developed the rather clever knack of ignoring almost any noise and showing every outward sign of being comatose, and yet, then instant my PC makes the Windows 'shutting down' chimes, he's up and ready for off.

"Despite no complaints about George, he was banned after a 'mystery shopper' simply stated he was there."

They spelt 'grass' wrong.

If you introduce a rule and your entire customer base tells you to fk off, you should probably strongly consider fking off.

Well seeing as a baboon had a fault free record as a linesman, maybe it's time the dogs earned their keep.

So no one who has a dog goes to work?
Millions do it, right or wrong, they do.
If he is a sensitive soul and doesn’t want to, begs the question why he got the dog in the first place?
