You know when you're quite happy with a few photographs and then someone posts something similar that puts yours to shame...

Great views, well done both. A good example of when to turn off AF or the lens will hunt on blank sky.

Ooo, number 2's lovely but then 3 is great too...! : decisionsdecisions! :

I have a few more that I'm hoping to upload - I'll post a link tomorrow. seriously, not to compete because none of mine are as clear or well framed as either of yours... but it'd be nice to get some advice from you guys.

Heh, I walked into that. Actually the D70 has a 'closest object' setting for AF but (a) by the time I'd find it they'd have gone, (b) I'd leave it on that by mistake and cock-up the next 10 shots!

My 1D has predictive AF with 45 points. You acquire a moving object at the centre, and it switches to other points to keep it in focus, very cool.

Nice shots... for a Canon user... ;-)

I must say, the recent superfluity of pictures from airshows have convinced me to try to find an airshow to go to... but first I'll need to get a telescopic zoom, since as much as I like my 300mm prime, I don't think it's best to wait for aircraft to fly into my field of view...

Red Arrows are due to fly in Weston-super-Mare today. Howver I suspect rain will stop play. Which is fine by me as I'm at work 15 miles away.
