A couple of local courses allow this, not on race days of clearly.

But why? Is it an altruistic attitude towards locals? Or would be in the planning/licensing /bylaws?

We used to live near Ascot race course and they let you walk on parts of it.

Why not allow the general public to use it? As long as people clear up other their dogs then I dont see why not.

Our local racecourse is (I believe) owned by the MOD as is most of the adjacent common land.

Public access is permitted, presumably granted under the same bylaws that allow access to the army training areas.

We live near Ascot and walk our dog there often. It's great - huge open space so she gets plenty of exercise, usually loads of other dogs there she can run around and go nuts with, and much of it is paved so it keeps her claws in check. Very convenient.
