M240i without cruise OR LIM
Discussion
Hi All
Im looking to buy a M240i and need cruise.
The car i've seen doesnt have it, but I see online its a relatively cheap retrofit, only issue is that it doesnt have the LIM button, which all guides reference as part of the upgrade. I didnt know it was possible to not have LIM.
Does anyone have any knowledge of this? Will it cause issues with the retrofit?
Cheers

I can't answer your question, but im looking to upgrade my wife's car from an e82 125i to a m240i and ive noticed loads don't have cruise control..Thats an expensive car missing something which was standard on other models in the range that was cheaper. M240i's are either very well spaced or have very little optional extras.

I thought the limiter function was standard, even if cruise wasn’t spec’d?
My friends M140i doesn’t have cruise but has the limiter function as did a colleague’s 116 company car.
Me too! And then I saw this...My friends M140i doesn’t have cruise but has the limiter function as did a colleague’s 116 company car.

When I had a quick look at them on AutoTrader earlier, hardly any of them had LIM or cruise. Even my Mini had LIM and cruise on it! I'm shocked that they aren't standard on the M240i to be fair.
I just went on AT as I didn't really believe you.... First result... no cruise or LIM..... that's me told
Yup, I thought the limiter was standard, it's the silver horizontal bit on the L hand radius of the steering wheel, that what the little rubber thing worked with. Mine wasn't fitted with cruise control but did come with that more basic function. It was an ex demonstrator from BMW in 2018, actively chose it as it had the smaller 18" wheels and no cruise as compared to the others on offer. Limiter is useful in 50 mph zones but glad to take it off.
Nothing to do with cost but have never used it despite it being on 3 of our previous cars. Just personal preference.

Very odd indeed.
Shame too as it was the spec I was after (auto, HK, adaptive dampers etc)
Really odd when it was those options ticked. His adaptive a deal breaker? It’s a bloody rare option from what I can gather from my search for a used M135/235 a few years ago.Shame too as it was the spec I was after (auto, HK, adaptive dampers etc)

Most of the M lite cars have 18’s. The 19’s don’t really suit them and we’re only available aftermarket from the dealer rather than as an option from the factory.Nothing to do with cost but have never used it despite it being on 3 of our previous cars. Just personal preference.
Still can’t believe the linter function wasn’t standard. Tight sods!

Wonder if the Limiter was dropped as standard on the Lci/facelift models.Shame too as it was the spec I was after (auto, HK, adaptive dampers etc)
Is it a Shadow Edition - understand these have HK as standard but when I was looking, many spec'd up little else, especially in 3 door which I wanted.

That wheel looks remarkable similar to mine and my 240 has got a limiter. The only marking on the wheel is a small red 'LIM' on the silver button on the left (can't see that in that 'photo). Have you had it confirmed (by driving it?) that it hasn't got a limiter? It was standard on my 68 plate car.

I find it mad that a top of the range car like the M240i(excluding the M2) wouldn't have cruise as standard to be fair. I'd expect it to be missing on a 218i, but not a M240i.
I do agree with you but on the other hand, I bought my factory order with circa £5k of options (including cruise) for something like £30k (and similar discounts were available on the M140/240i without much in the way of haggling e.g. TRL). Even the basic vehicle is a lot of car for that money and whilst it seems Scrooge-like to not include cruise control and it presumably doesn't cost that much, they had to save money somewhere to offer punters that rather lovely B58 in such an affordable package.timbo999 said:
